Wild Australian Sanctuaries
Wild Australian Sanctuaries
Mission:
"Wild Australian Sanctuaries is committed to reversing the decline of Australia’s wildlife by restoring degraded habitats and reintroducing keystone species. Through strategic conservation efforts, we aim to foster resilient landscapes that support biodiversity and promote the health of Australia’s fragile ecosystems."
Wild Australian Sanctuaries (WAS) is a registered charity dedicated to reversing the decline of Australia’s wildlife and ensuring the survival of our unique species within their natural habitats.
WAS focuses on acquiring degraded land for restoration and reintroducing native, mid-sized predatory mammals, which are considered keystone species due to their significant impact on the food chain and their role in maintaining ecological balance.
WAS collaborates with traditional owners, existing rewilding programs and organisations to create a network of demonstration sites that will be accessible to the conservation and scientific community. This strategic approach emphasizes the importance of these keystone species in fostering healthy ecosystems.
As a registered charity, WAS relies on grants, donations, and partnerships to fulfill its mission.
WAS believes preserving nature and restoring natural habitats are essential for achieving positive outcomes for people and the planet, including clean water, clean air, sustainable food systems, and a deeper connection to the country and our unique wildlife.
